Staged Reading:  August 23rd    8pm

Free to the public.

In collaboration with Sanctuary Stage, workshopping of Original Play by Los Angeles Playwright, Ken Gray.

Synopses --The play is a work in progress exploring the ability of the human spirit to change, and asks “Are human beings able to change what might seem to be pre-determined conditions?” It goes further to play with the idea of the power of what might be called “magic” to change the human condition. The play begins with a night when there is a pick up rehearsal of an all male production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Eureka Theatre.

Wiley & The Hairy Man

by Susan Zeder

Children's Theatre

Wiley and the Hairy Man is an African-American folktale written down in 1932.  Under the 'New Deal' there was a program called the "Federal Writers Project". This project paid people in each of the 49 states to go out and collect local history, songs, games, legends, riddles and folktales. Wiley and the Hairy Man was one of the many folktales recorded then, as part of the collection from the state of Alabama. It was written down by Donnell van De Voort who had heard it as a child from the family gardener.  It has since been written for performance by Susan Zeder who brings the colorful and exciting story to life.  Don't miss this marvelous story of a boy who overcomes his fears in the swamps of the deep south.

Please contact Sanctuary Stage office to book this exciting play at your school.  Performances can be booked at your school or The Eureka Theater, Film and Concert Center.
